The concept will still keep the kit displays and renowned expertise people come to expect from Jessops, however the stores will now be split in two, with half focusing on gifting (photo frames, photo gifts etc) and printing of photos.
"We believe, as the high street experts in ’Everything is Image’, that people should celebrate their images. We want to harness our knowledge and heritage to enable people to take the best photos with the kit that is right for them. But we also want them to be able to celebrate their photos by doing something more with them. Our next generation stores are reaching out to a far wider audience of people who want to ‘set their photos free’ including the smartphone savvy photographer," comments CEO Neil Old.
The new-look stores are designed to inspire consumers to get creative with their photos and will offer a relaxing and colourful environment where shoppers can peruse a myriad of photo gift ideas that can be printed and personalised, many within a matter of minutes.
The first next-generation store officially opened in Torquay on 15th February 2018. In the weeks preceding this, three further Sainsbury’s concessions opened in Didcot, Cheltenham and Oldbury. Jessops then continued the success of its store openings with Nottingham on March 1st then Bromley and Bristol in early April. In the coming months Bury St Edmunds, Leeds, Basingstoke, Glasgow, Gateshead, Meadowhall and Birmingham stores will all be re-opening.
